Pixels missing on Triple Info Display
« on: 09 July 2007, 10:09:38 »

Before sending my TID away for a replacement (£32.95 on ebay) I thought I'd try to fix it myself. I found excellent instructions with photos on this web site http://www.rscollection.de/download/tid_reparatur.pdf but it didn't work for me. Has anybody succeeded in fixing a TID?

I tried this myself, but to no avail, it is not as easy at it looks.

I just sold one of these for £12 on here. Mine is the MID, more info, but cant read none of it.

They go on ebay for silly money sometimes, can get em for a fiver.

I have tried but no luck, in the end I got one out of a Vectra, had to change the outer casing and now works great. I think the problem with these is the ribbon that is connected to the cricket board get brittle.

When i bought my omega, the MID did not function properley, found one on ebay, was the same, found another on ebay, but it was a TID, so i sold this to someone on here, Sourced another from ebay, still half the pixels missing, so i have 3 knackered ones now, ha ha ....

I phoned the VX Dealers and got a qoute for a new on £338 + VAT, + Fitting, cos apparently they have to be matched with the devices on the car????

So all in all it was going to be approx £450, Yeah right, so i still dont have one.

Im still percivering, i will have one, one day.

MIDs do need to be configured for car via Tech1/Tech2, TIDs don't

I repaired mine (with sticking and bandage) ..Better than before..But after time become again the same...

Really really expensive but necessary new..

PS: for repair you must be carefull not to break the conductive part totally

I think I prefer the setup on the Cadillac Catera (the Omega's US cousin) no triple display just larger instrument binnacle with an extra Oil Pressure and Battery gauge.
