Dont want to throw a spanner in Mr McB's good work but I have not seen a flashing Gatso type camera as yet in a 70 mph limit in the UK.

Lots in 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's but none thus far in the 70's.....

Willing to be proved to the contrary though....    :y

I got flashed by one on the A43 back when SWMBO was still living in Wellingborough (6 years or so ago). Dual carriageway at national speed limit and I was doing 70 MPH at the time :o

Nothing ever came of it. There had been roadworks and a 40 MPH limit there until very shortly before and I suspect the camera had been left at a lower setting.

in relation to seatbelts, i believe its true that the driver is only responsible for his own seatbelt or passengers under 14

any passenger over 14 who is caught without their seatbelt gets their own personal fixed penalty fine...

not sure i agree with the bridge weight limit being only 2 tonnes... when was it changed from 7.5??

Now you have all got me thinking about Chelsea bridge. I have a nasty feeling I am mixing it up with Albert bridge, so as I am no longer living in London I will bow to defeat and accept that I am probably wrong this time. :(

My mistake on the Gravelly hill, that is what I meant! Sorry

As for the bridge, yes double deck busses are allowed across, but no other vehicles over two tonnes.

As for the seatbelts, I can 100% assure you that the driver is responsible for thei own seatbelt and anyone else under 14. The passenger is responsible dor theirs. this applies to private hire vehicles too.

The Driver is the one who'll get the ticket from PC plod though as its your (The drivers) resposibility to make sure everyone is safe before moving off .

are you sure about that? I know that was the case some time ago but there have been cases as quoted by myself of passengers getting their own fixed penalty for not using a seatbelt and the driver not held responsible especially if they had their own belt on.... road wars..?

now obviously I cant say i'm 100% right, as it could be down to the leniance of whoever pulls someone over...
