I need to remove the front seat out of my 2002 facelift miggy, do I need to follow any procedure for disconnecting the seat side air bags or do I just unplug.

Dis-connect the battery (within 15 secs of turning the ignition off) and don't turn the ignition on with an air bag unplugged or you'll have an air bag warning light to reset. Go and have a brew and then work on the seat.

Don't forget that if they are full electric motion you won't be able to move back and forth easily to remove the bolts.
I removed the mounting bolts before disconnecting the battery, be very careful not to disturb any connectors with the battery still connected.
Going for a brew while things discharge is an excellent ideas.

As others say, battery off, then wait a few mins to discharge.

GLS won't have leccy seats (only up/down).
