How do I replace the camshaft sensor?

On a 2.0, pop the cambelt cover (outer) off, and it's removed via one E8 torx bolt, and pulls up through the top...

don't use a CHEAP sensor though they poo. an don't usually work!!

i bought genuine vx one <£47.00 inc vat with no tc> and came with wiring loom as they had problems with it. only takes bout half hour from start to finish including doing wiring! lol

Thanks for speedy reply and do excuse my ignorance, do you mean the silver cover, 'cause the guy who did the test on the ems said just the black strip part, and does the bolt that holds it in go through the front of the engine, would I need to remove the large cover behind the belt ?

you need to remove both, the top cover with ecotec on and the cam belt cover and the aux drive belt!!!

did thesensor you bought come with a wiring loom if not chances are will work for about a week or not at all.

I think I'll get someone to do it for me. No, it did'nt come with a wiring loom. I'll take it back and get a genuine part from dealer me thinks

Hallo. Can I replace the camshaft sensor on may car, 2.2 2001, as you describe? May car is "pull, tug, snatch" when the engine is cold, but is ok when is varm. Sorry for bad spelling .

not too sure on different engine sizes but if its a 4 pot then yes!
