ok, so i've found the air in the system -  a hairline crack in the screw down top to the diesel filter...... so that's fixed.... i can't find a pre-prime pump anywhere, so how do i bleed the system??

Don't quote me - in know NOTHING about the TD...

If it is the 2.5TD, just crank as normal for 15 seconds maximum until it starts Self bleeding system.

Still think its self bleed.  To assist, is there a bleed screw on top of fuel filter?

According to the owners manual the X25DT is auto bleedling by cranking it for max 10 seconds the waiting 5 secs then trying at this pace until it starts then let engine run at high speed for 30 secs to fully bleed.
The X20DTH engine has a complicated system required to bleed the system because of the very high injection pressure and must be carried out by a Vx dealership!!!
