the bloke who changed my ouil and filter said its coming from the tappets. he said the oil pump might be weak and not pushing the oil to the top end of the engine(tappets)

yeah the dash board light works. goes out a second or so after i start the engine and is not on while engine is running. Just seems weird how some days its louder than others.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, although i ave a very sunular problem...

Did you do the Oil pressure releif valve yourself?

I have a noisey engine, simular to tappets.  I've just given her a full GM oil and filter change and still no good.  I plan to do another change in 500 miles or so too!  Oil pressure relief valve sounds quite good but i have no idea how this would cause the engine to rattle like a ford??

Cheers

Right this is getting really weird now.

My car has sounded like a clapped out deisel for a week or tthree now and has lost a bit of power (i think)

I started it up last night to go home from work and it had gone back to being quiet (usual nice v6 sound,no tapping at all). its still quiet today.

I'm assuming the oil pressure must be ok as surely the oil light on the dashboard would light up or stay on for a while when i start the car. (can anyone verify this?)

The other day the engine management light came on only for a couple of seconds after i started the car but has not done since. it also seemed a little bit lumpy but then seemed ok after couple of miles.

Anybody got any idea what could be causing it to sound so bad?

Im beggining to think this car is jinxed. i fix one thing and something else seems to go wrong with it.

might be time to send her to that big old scrap heap in the sky.

leather interior and 18" alloys might be available for purchase soon
