Idler bushes worn
« on: 14 August 2007, 16:44:56 »

2022 Omega CD has just failed the MOT with the code (2.2.B.1g) steering idler bushes worn.

My question is can I get the bushes or has it to be the whole steering idler?

I am clueless and appeal to you all for some help.
Also can you recommend where to get the part at reasonable cost.
With greatful thanks,
Martyn

Steering idler comes complete with bush, not sure that you can buy the bush seperately anyway, Vx charge around £60 ,but you can buy it on Ebay for half that normally, even your local motor factor could probably source one for you at cheaper than Vx prices,  I take it , it's the one on passengers side (as they have said Idler) that's gone as that's the one that commonly wears on these cars. when you come to replace it there is a good how-to in maintainance guide. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1158598664

Thanks for your replies everyone.
I`ve read the postings which suggests that the steering idler is a complete unit and occurs on the offside. However the failed MOT report definetly says nearside.
I`ve searched on Ebay but the result was zero.
Any more suggestions?
Thanks again,
Martyn

beat by dave c!!     ;D   ;D

Keep any eye out, though.  They can be had cheaper, unless you are in a rush, dependant on how much MOT is left.
