« on: 18 August 2007, 17:27:06 »

Hi!  I'd like to know what the normal operating temperature of the 2.5 V6 is.

Thanks!

Mine goes up and down from 90 to 100 while in traffic (fans cutting-in), and stays at a steady 85-90 on motorways. It did it from new and so did my previous Omega.

Since flushing out the Coolant System mine runs at about 92-93, when in traffic though does go up to about 97 then the fans kick into play temperature then goes back down :y

Halfway up the scale in normal operation is a good rule of thumb, any of mine that have varied from that have needed attention.
Serious hill climbing or traffic may show an increase, but 100 or over needs thought.

Thanks guys!  I just wanted to verify the high-temp operation of the engine.  I'll soon be taking an extensive test drive on a unit I'll be looking at and want to set a benchmark on what to expect.  I live in Manila and traffic can be horrible (coupled with hot weather in summertime) so engine temp for a European car is an issue.  I've had experience with Mercs and Bimmers (used to work for a BMW dealership) but none with Opels (or Vauxhalls).  ;)

Well you will be pleased to know that the Omega does not have dam Viscous fans or radiators on which the plastic fails after 7 years causing the corners to snap off.....
