paper clip test did not work
« on: 03 September 2007, 14:03:26 »

Tried to do paper clip test shorted 4 & 6 together but eml did not flash, tried with just ign, then with engine running. all i get is eml light goes out when pins are shorted. I dont have any trouble with eml being on but car failed to start today, after checking for a spark (ok) opened up fuel pipe (ok) car started ok and runs fine so i just want to check for codes. Thanks for any help

Pop the instrument panel out and check that some terrible person hasn't wired the ECU light in parralel with the ABS or airbag light...

Just for reference, on a 2.0l Omega, the ign has to be on, with engine NOT running.  The paperclip method with engine running does not work on the 2.0l
