Removing Dash... to change heater matrix
« on: 10 September 2007, 16:28:55 »

Alrighty... those who saw my thread on my new omega leaking coolant - well that's bodged enough for me to live with it a week or two.

Is there a step by step guide to dash removal anywhere?

I've seen the centre console and clocks removal...  Is that enough to get at the matrix, or more strip down required?

Garage would do it, but recommended it as a weekend project given the cost - he's always way too busy so don't think he fancied it!   ;D

Aside from the obvious change all bulbs whilst it's out is there anything else I should clean/change/fettle whilst it's off?

Sorry for all the questions - hopefully I'll be able to respond to some soonish.  :)

ive just done mine n its actually a relitivly simple job (well compared to the last one i done in the 106!), although it is quite time consuming, took me about 5 days from start to finishes doing it after work and finished it at the weekend (im seriously lazy so it could be done alot quicker! lol) just buy a haynes n follow the steps.

Also I didnt have to remove the whole dash from the car, just took it apart then when it came to attually removing it out the car, the i just leavered it back and removed the matrix from the drivers foot well.

Hi,
its a bit troublesome job to do..

The first problem is there is a plastic pipeline work behind the odometer and computer screen..

Under this plastic pipe is a screw which is hidden..So be carefull not break it...Otherwise the dash will make sound...

Second

on the drivers side the screws around the ventilation and light switches are problem ...And there are notches hidden..That you need some thing like knife..To push the notches inside...

Lastly take the whole dash out otherwise will be problem to take the matrix outside...And dont forgot to check the circulation and leakage after matrix change before the dash in operation..

PS: also its necessary to take the airbags both out..May be will be better have it done in a garage...
