Dum dum dum
« on: 11 September 2007, 17:55:59 »

Hi,

Just bought a omega elite 1998 auto 2.5 v6.

When driving with foot down its making a big noise , sounds like dum dum dum dum dum , if you know what i mean. Doesnt sound like its coming from the top , so maybe the bottom end.

Any ideas?

Need a bit more information than that.

Does it only happen when the car is moving, or can you hear when
parked up with engine running?

If when parked up, does it sound all the time, or only when engine
is hot or cold etc..

Does it only sound with Engine under load? ie Parked in gear and revved
with foot on Brake, or when accelerating when moving, or sound all the
time?

Is it a heavy knocking sound, or more of a rhythmic thrum.. thrum sound
similar to a differential bearing on the way out?

Does it sound when going straight or when cornering?

As said, more info required to be sure....

If you added your car and location details to your profile it could be that theres someone nearby who would be willing to pop around and have a listen and able to diagnose more accurately.

Can you replicate the noise when driving?  If so, could be worth trying to record with cameraphone then post up at photobucket or similar so we can all listen.
