« on: 18 September 2007, 12:00:31 »

Daft question time... Can anyone tell me how to change the fuel filter on my 2.5 TD? It wont start this morning and I think this is the reason as there's loads of smoke when it's trying to start. :-/

It wont start this morning and I think this is the reason as there's loads of smoke when it's trying to start.

Non starting and loads of smoke on a diesel is normally the Glow Plugs not operating.
You'll have to check the plugs /circuits/ controller to isolate the fault.
I don't have any info on this engine, so don't know the circuit layout.

Don't assume because your glow light(I assume the BMW engine has one) is operating
correctly that all is well.
When my Merc diesel had problems, 2 of the plugs had failed short circuit, so I never
got the light coming on when it shouldn't until a third plug failed open circuit.
