Self levelling suspension
« on: 22 August 2007, 15:54:47 »

Do MV6's (pre facelift) have the above? Just wondering as I was checking the fuses and found that all the fuses relating to this were missing didn't want to replace them incase I caused a problem.

Mine does... or at least did ;)

It was an optional extra on the MV6, and it seems the original buyer of mine was stupid enough to pay it. Unless you regularly carry the entire payload limit of the car in the boot, you're much better off with some good quality standard dampers. I got rid of mine when the old dampers were shot, fitted better ones for less than it would cost to replace the self levellers, and removed the fuse for the self levelling pump.

You can tell you've got them if you look at the dampers, self-levellers have a narrow air pipe going into them on the side.

Plod also tends to have them fitted to......but its understandable considering the loads carried.

Mines an ex-plod and has self leveling.

I replaced with the same from Autovaux as I regularly carry upto 70Ltrs of LPG over the back axle.

Rare of the retail ones. Check for air pipes on rear shocks, that is conclusive ;)

I just failed an MOT on rear shocks, mine are self levelling, is it ok to just fit standard omega dampers? I was told I may have to change the springs as well which I find hard to believe, any info is much appreciated as I really don’t want to be paying hundreds of pounds on self levelling as I just don’t need them, I can get the normal ones new for £60 a pair, thanks

TC = Tradeclub - a way of getting genuine parts at pattern prices...

Sounds good, I looked the site up and there are a few dealers near me, so how do I join? Do I just ask the nearest dealer listed? I can live with £150 a pair if there are no other options
