Compression Ratio
« on: 29 September 2007, 23:07:46 »

Ive heard that the 3.2 differes from the 3.0 as the compression ratio is less?

Is that so? , if so couldnt i just put a thin gasket between the head and raise the compression ratio to improve power?

The headgaskets are already quite thin......

Sorry , got myself back to front. If i put a thin gasket in along side the original head gasket it would lower the compression ratio even more.

So how would i increase the ratio then?

3.0 is 10.7:1 IIRC. 3.2 is 10:1 which allowed them to ditch the EGR and SAI.

You could increase the compression using a head with a smaller combustion chamber (3.0 head? - but do the sums first). You could probably also skim down a standard head if you ensure valve to piston clearance doesn't suffer. Taller pistons would do it too, if such a thing is available.

Not much difference in ratio is there. If it would only give me a few bhp i woul leave it and save the money.
