Fitting rear quarterlight window
« on: 11 October 2007, 11:27:12 »

I have a 2.5v6 Facelift model (new shape).
Unfortunately my passenger side rear quarterlight window has been smashed and I need to replace it. Does anyone know of a step by step way of replacing it? I am not the most gifted at manual jobs but will give it a go, I can obtain the glass from a local breakers yard but don't want to be stuck with it should I not be able to fit the glass. I am hoping it is just a case of removing a few bits and placing the glass into position (fingers crossed). Anyones help is really appreciated.

I got locked out of my other omega last year and ended up putting a hammer through the same window to get back in.  I had one of the rear 1/4's spare at the time so this was the only option.  I don't recall it being very difficult TBH, just peel off the rubber seals and in it pops.  Might be worth using a little soapy water to aid installation... and to wash yourt hands after!

I had tro replace mine a few weeks ago after putting a hammer through it.  Not too difficult a job although ti is a bit fiddly and at times an extra pair of hands would be helpful.

In the haynes manual it says you've to take all the widow winding mechanism out whihc involves drilling our rivets and god know what else.  Whilst this would make it easier to get the quarterglass in you absolutely don't need to do it.

Only thing i took off was the door card and the guid rail that sits between the quarter glass and the main window, it is held to the door with a couple of small screws which are hidden under the door seal,  with that off i was able to pull it out of the way just enough to be able to get the glass in.
