Hi, some of you might remember me from cavweb :-) ...
My omega has been running superbly recently, with the help of this forum...
But I rear ended, at about 5 MPH, a Ford Fiesta, after I'd dodged someone pulling out from behind a bus. My fault, but the fiesta had a cracked number plate and mine was a mess. Exhaust pipe had gone straight through the grill, punching it in. Insurance have it (I'm waiting on a final call) but the repairers reckon its borderline writeoff. Why? Full front air dam needed, front grille, bonnet and two wings strightened, new washer jet sprayer and a fixed air intake, and fog lights. The air bag didn't even go off - the speed was that low. Is this amount of damage expected, or are they making it up

Its my beautiful (though aged) 1998 MV6 estate, the one with *every* factory extra, including the Irmscher springs, front air dam, irmscher rear bumper and spoiler, irmscher side skirts, body coloured wing mirrors and the body painted rub strips on the doors,Irmscher anthracite 17 alloys, nav system etc etc . All were on it from new. Its done 147000 miles and has a rattle from the heat shields around the downpipes, but otherwise sound, had the front shocks replaced with the Bilstein OEM, new idle arm, tie rods (all 3), lower wishbones
I would love to know two things: One - If they make me an offer, how much would you reckon I should accept, and two how much should I hold out for the repairs, and where might I get an independent inspection/quotation for the work?
Any advice greatfully received!
