Fuel filter - Saloon
« on: 14 October 2007, 10:36:03 »

Daft question here but which way round does the fuel filter sit? I would have expected the arrow to point to the front of the car but on mine it points to the back. Is that right?

Yeh, that's what I thought, to me it's the wrong way round, the pipe running towards the front is on the rear of the filter as far as I can tell....

Could someone just take a quick look at there's? In my mind the blue pipe from the rear (from the tank by the looks of it) should go into the input of the filter and the black pipe, at the front should go the output.

Thanks

There are pics on this link for a 3.2 estate filter.  No reason to think its anything different to the saloon?   :-/

Well the new one is on and i've fitted it the way round that I think it should be.

When trying to refit the black pipe it would not click onto the 'push fit clip', I replaced the new clip with one of the old ones and had the same problem, it's as if the connector on the pipe would not push in far enough. I checked the connector for anything that could have stopped the clip going in far enough but it all seemed fine to me.

In the end I had to help the clip click into place by applying some pressure with a right angled flat screwdriver (A tool from my days repairing HP / Canon laserjets a long time ago!) pushing the clip from behind.

So it's all back together and leak free but I cannot believe a job that took less than 5 mins on the Vectra has took me an hour on the Omega and it's easier to get to on the Omega! I have a suspicion that the filter was on the wrong way because the last person had problems with it and turned it round to see if it would go on any easier that way.

Thanks H21, did have a look at that when I was in my confused state! It's how I assumed it should be!
