water, water everywhere!
« on: 17 October 2007, 21:02:05 »

had fun on the way to work this morning, when i switched on the heater fan i got a noise like a bucket of water being stirred very quickly! heat still coming out of the vents though, after a few minutes of this odd noise the passenger footwell filled with water! of course i thought it was the heater matrix gone but no " coolant level low " message on the screen, i stopped over and checked the header tank, level fine, no coolant lost all day so i'm guessing ive got a leak somewhere, it rained very heavy for ages last night but after checking the scuttle area i cant see anything obvious!?! has this happened to anyone else? :o

Just an idea have you checked the drain holes inside the scuttle panel?

On the passenger side under the bonnet, there is a flap to able you to get at the pollen filter, under there at the very bottom is a rubber drain hole, sometimes they get bloked.. Also there is one one the drivers side but that is easy to see...

yep, i found them, they're both fine, i'm going to duck-tape the base of the screen for now as the sealing rubber looks very loose, if it works i'll replace it! :)

Tip a jug of water into passenger side scuttle drain, see how quick it disappears - I reckon your drain is partially bloked, and couldn't cope with the downpour
