Boot floor

Hi guys, I need to mount something in the boot of my car and I need to fix it down at the back of the boot.  I just wondered if you guys know if there is anything under there that I might damage.  I just need to put in 4 self tapping screws.  I was thinking at the back of the boot in the passenger side corner.  I just worry about drilling into the fuel tank etc.  But I then remembered that somewhere at the back of the boot is where the towbar bolts are so should hopefully be ok?

Towbars are always fitted at the centre of the car, so should imagine the bolt holes will be near the centre...
I would have a look under the car mate before drilling anything  :y

there are a lot of pipes and electrical wires on the estate be very careful bud !! probly be better drilling from under neath !!  :y

The rear towbar mounting points are pre-drilled with a thin sheet of metal welded over them. You should be able to see them but they're at the centre of the boot at the rear. They are also right over the rear suspension crossmember and long bolts and spacers are used to secure the towbar through holes in the crossmember.

I suspect you'll be over the crossmember in most places at the rear of the boot so you won't be able to get to the rear of the holes to rustproof them.

I'd have a look under there and see if you can spot a place where you can get to the underside of the boot floor panel. Problem is, to the rear of the crossmember is the fuel tank.

the tow bar fixing points are identified by small dimples in the floor of the boot. Look for those dimples and you should be ok. :y

Get a good quality silicone adhesive and stick it down. :) :)

Or some sikaflex or similar... Sticks like the proverbial to a blanket provided the surfaces are clean.

Good idea on the spray glue, that silkoflex sounds a bit too permanent though lol.  How the hell would you get it off?  I think I will try a silicon adhesive and see how I get on.
