Creaking rear end
« on: 20 October 2007, 12:59:18 »

When I went for my MOT back in april I got an advisory saying the rear subframe bushes were worn, the coil spring on the drivers side was also broken.  At the time I don't recall the car making any sort of creaking sound from the back but over time it's developed one and it's now starting to get really really annoying.

The car doesn't creak if i bounce it up and down from the outside but it always creaks when i'm setting off from a standstill.  It also does it when i get out of the car and the back end rises up slightly due to my bulk not being sat in it anymore.

Is this likely to be the bushes or is it mroe likely a worn shock absorber or something else.

The coil springs were replaced at the last MOT as it wouldn't pass without them, any chance these could have been put in wrong or is that not really possible?

They only gave an advisory for a broken coil spring?  :o

No, it failed on the broken spring.  The advisory was for the bushes:)

There's something in tis for creaking rear - something to do with the rear seat, or something under it...
