BUSHES
« on: 18 October 2007, 21:08:49 »

Does anyone what the big bushes are on the rear subframe ( i think they are insulator bushes) and how hard are they to change.   Do i have to take the rear subframe out or can i do it in situ.  Are any special tools needed ie specific press  ( i do have full workshop facilities and a very comprehensive tool kit).  And where can i get them from or should i just stick with gen vx..

Thanks
lee

If you are talking about the huge doughnut bushes at the front of the rear sub-frame:

1) They have quite a lot of give in them anyway so don't rush into replacing them.
2) I've not found anyone other than Vx that sell exactly the right part.
3) The part number is 90447156 and I think they're around £30 each.
4) You can jack the car and pull the bushes out with a claw hammer - there's a sort of lip like on a can of paint to allow you to do this.
5) You can push a new one in using the plate (reversed) or by using a jack.

You can do it without removing the rear sub-frame but you need to jack the car in the right place...

How about these, any good?
