Sourcing Wishbones
« on: 28 October 2007, 20:29:43 »

I seem to remember reading that pattern wishbones are not worth buying as the bush rubbers give up the ghost after a few months. With that in mind, are Autovaux wishbones genuine GM parts?

TIA,

Eddie.

Why is this??  Usually as cars get older, generally prices for parts tend to fall, don't they?

Hi mate ...ive just had Autovaux wishbones and they are good.
They told me they are the same as GM except that they have the bushes (original) pressed in by the company who make the bones. Whereas GM have the bones made and send em somewhere else for bush fitting.

Ive fitted mine and they are good at £49 each

Cheers

Hmm.. that sounds like Autovaux..

its the bushes that go,  so essentially they are non original then ::)
(presumably GM don't go to that trouble for nothing.)

I'm waiting on a set of these so I'll let you know when they arrive.
Several people came back to me with positive feed back on this company after I asked the same question re sourcing.

I found the bypartsby.co.uk wishbones better than VSC. Slightly better quality visually and they've lasted a lot longer.

My Vx originals failed at 43000 miles - I had these fitted 6m ago and they are fine.  If you do a search on Wishbones I asked the same question and these were the overall winners for me.

I fitted a pair of these last weekend and was very impressed with the fit, just got to see how long they last now. By all accounts they have had good reviews and they arrived next day!!
