Hi gary, almost 100% a wheel balance problem[tyre] or slightly buckled/ damaged rim. have them checked for oval shape and then if that proves ok have the tyres re balanced. You could try swopping the rears to the front and see if the problem is solved that way. :y

have a look at the inside edge of the front tyres, they could be worn.....

Mine does this when the tyres are worn, i get a terrible wobble at speed

Friend of mine with a BMW 525 ... his SWMBO had a "minor" shunt.. side swiped by a "white van man"... scrape down the side from front door hinge to just behind rear door.. all looks cosmetic, just awaiting insurance to sort out when it gets fixed...

Been driving it for 2 weeks... says to me ... "Have a look will you .. I've got this vibration that seems to be getting worse especially at around 70...."

I crawl around a bit ... hang on .... rear offside wheel is about 5 degrees "in" at the top compared with nearside ... drive it SLOWLY to BMW garage (6 miles) ... "impounded" as "not roadworthy .. you ain't taking THAT on the road" !!

He is now driving a mondeo courtesy car, and I think the bill for "white van insurance" has just tripled !

Methinks he has been VERY lucky not to have a serious mishap in the last 2 weeks !!!

moral of the story ... ?? high speed shudders CAN BE DANGEROUS !!!  get em looked at PDQ !!

just my 2.7 p's worth (inc VAT)  :)

Hi mate....defo wheel balance I should think. You can usually see where the blocks have dropped off of the rims. Mine does it at about 80, but around 95 and above it stops again. Also it could be a distorted tyre. This would be obvious i.e. bulges in the tyre wall, distorted bead ect.

Getting the wheels checked and re-balanced would be my first port of call......good luck..... :y

P.S just been out for a fag and had a look! on my omega the o/s front and rear has large weights on the rims and the n/s front has a medium weight and the n/s rear has a small weight??? but on my ford galaxy the o/s front and rear has weights on and the n/s has none at all and it has no probs at all! the mind boggles :-/ :-?

Are you getting any wheel wobble though the steering wheel up to 60mph?
or is it from say 70 -90? Can you feel the car wobbling through your seat?  if so I think that points to your rear wheels mate as I have the same problem. What my problem is I have a slightly buckled rear wheel. I took my car back to the tyre fitters and they checked the balancing yet again, but when my wheel was on the machine you can actually see the slight buckle on the inside edge of the wheel. Apparently our roads on humps create this... :y

I would take your car and have the balancing checked and when its on the balancing machine see if it is buckled :y
