Advice Needed... Climate Control
« on: 10 November 2007, 19:49:59 »

Hi Guys
Well....it had to be done we have just gone and bought ourselves another Omega MV6  8-) So have 2 sat on the drive at the mo  :y
But unlike our old one this has full leather and only 54,000 with full service history :o
My hubby drove it back and noticed that when he put the Dual Climate Control on  the "Hi" setting it blew hot he then moved it down to number 27 and it blew quite cold on our old Omega it wouldn't blow cold until it was down about 22 and below.Surley it should blow warm at about 24/25 ?
Any suggestions ?

I don't know for sure so I maybe wrong, but I think it depends on the temperature in the car as to how much cold the climate puts in...... for instance when i am in the car I have it on HI, when my mrs gets in i turn it down to 26-27, and because it is boiling in there it puts cold air into the car to cool it to 26-27...
Hope that makes sense ::)

Sampling fan is behind the climate panel - it blows cabin air onto a sensor, which in turn senses the temperature of the air, so it knows how much to cool/heat the cabin dependant on temp selected.

If this isn't working, it won't sense the right temp, and won't operate properly.

Well maybe thats so...My hubby did have the car ticking over whilst inspecting the car and then he did take it out for a spin and then it was a 90min drive back in some heavy traffic.

Cheers for that ;)

If ever you're down near Nottingham, talk nicely to Mark and see if you can get a Climate software upgrade :)

Is there a test for this to find out if it's actually working ?

You may be able to hear it working... but I'm not really sure, may need to pop the panel off to make sure it works

IIRC the sampling fan is behind the little grill in the centre of the climate control panel .. place a small piece of tissue paper close to the grill ... if it is sucked towards the grill the fan is working, if it falls away the fan is not working...

I think thats the right way  :(

As well as the fan working, ensure the sensor is not touching anything (have to dismantle to check).

Is it a facelift, or prefacelift?
