After purchasing a set of mats for my recently cleaned omega i got the pack home fitted the mats but the drivers side mats came complete with two screws to hold them down!! Down onto what? they are not the self tapping sort i have had before they look like they need to screw int something

my vauxhall dealer failed to mention fittings so has anybody got a clue? >:(

My 2001 Omega has small holes in the carpet for the fitted mats to 'screw' into. I guess it's just a quarter turn job. I take it your carpets don't have the holes then?

That'll teach you for getting an Elite then.  ;D ;D

Seriously, I'm surprised you don't have the holes for the mats but them's the breaks. The screws you mention will definately fit into the holes in the carpets. I remeber seeing, on Ebay, a seller with the carpet female bits for sale so you may be able to source them there and retro fit them. Otherwise just lose the screws before fitting them.  :y

Just found the ad', it includes the part numbers you want. CLICK

Strange... both my previous 1997 and my current 2001 have carpet holes...

The first carpet set I bought (original Vx) had holes and bolts. The second set (again Vx) had neither in spite of the fact it was the Omega one... luckily I kept the bolts from the first set, so I cut-out the holes...

Similar strange situation here..my old 1998 cdx had female screw grippers on the carpet in each front and rear footwell.looked like a plastic hole with a few screw threads on ...my 1998 elite has none..and the carpet doesnt seem to be as thick a pile,vx must have had different grade carpets..just odd that i higher spec model doesnt have them as standard.
I have genuine vx floor mats and they dont have any screw holes..what part number were yours sold against then as will compare with mine if i still have receipt

The mats on mine when I bought it had holes about 1" on both drivers and passenger side with 1/4 turn lock down. The new mats had small screws which I suspected were run into the carpet and the sound deadening. As the guy at the parts desk couldn't advise on how they were fitted he gave me a few of the 1/4 turn type which fold in half and as you push them down onto the carpet the small spikes on the bottom take a bite into the carpet. The mats were opened out with a punch to take the carpet fitting (hole saw on plack of wood works  :y) and the mats placed over the fitting and then locked in place.

The rears were done in the same way but with only one fixing which is just enough to stop the mat disappearing under the seat.

'98/99 Elite model's were supplied with 'contoured over carpet mats' the same colour as the main carpet, they had no fixing holes as the mats backing gripped the fitted carpet.
If fitted please don't scrap them, Vx price for all four to match grey or beige interior £180, if available, (black are £35 with screw fixings).
Early Omega's have fixing points for the rear mats as well as fronts. :y
