REAR WINDOW DE-MISTER
« on: 20 December 2007, 11:42:42 »

Hello again-
I was hoping that one of you on here may have had this problem and rectified it.

My rear window de-mister is rubbish, it works slightly. After about 5 mins you can see it starting to de-mist. I think that the mirrors are linked to the de-misting switch and they too are slow, but not as slow as the rear window.

Also when I turn the de-mister on I get an interference through the radio, like a crackling noise.

It’s important that I can de-missed at this time of year, any clues?!?

Sounds like you have a loose connection or a short somewhere. I would guess the radio interference is caused by the poor connection which will also give you reduced current hence it working very slowly.

Im no expert so I cant say what you might do to fix but I am sure someone will be along shortly to tell you which relay/fuse to remove and reseat, and what connectors to clean.

Does the rear window clear evenly or ar there any gaps ? If there is a gap (where an element isnt working) that could cause problems, can be fixed with conducting paint available from halfords.

Thanks for the clues!
The rear window de-mist's evenly but never clears fully. I shall check the connectors under the parcel shelf and the fuse for it. It does sound like though it could be one of those things to live with, I'll check connections first before I get too dispondant!

Yes the rear window clears if i'm on a run because the aircon clears it.
I just wish I could press the button and the screen clears, like in my wifes car, her's take a minute to clear!
I shall do some checks tomorrow morning and see if a wiggled wire will help,.........mmm
