What is this part for ? 2.0 Engine
« on: 22 December 2007, 12:37:20 »

Can't work out how to post a picture so I'll try and describe it :

On the right hand side of the engine, just behind the battery, is connected to the small vac pipes and has an electronic connector going into the loom. Held in place with two torx screws.
Inside the electronic connector is a resistor and some gold wire. I know this cos it's bust on mine !

What does it do or is for ? Is it connected to the idle circuit because on idle occasionally the revs drop through the floor and then surge up again ?

And finally if it is important has anyone got a spare one for sale ?

Cheers

Sounds like a vacuum actuator of some sort. Charcoal canister purge valve at a guess? But wait for someone who knows the engine better than me...

Could really do with a picture, but from where you're talking about
it could be the EGR valve. This is mounted on the back of the head,
on the passenger side, near the battery.

If you follow one of the Vac pipes from it, it will snake round the back
of the head and enter the Throttle Body as one of the 2 Vac pipes to
the rear of the Throttle Body.

Do a paperclip test and see if you have any faults stored.
