Hi everyone. Christmass eve and the clutch pedal goes to the floor and stays there, what has gone wrong (checked fluid, its on the low side but not empty) is it bad?

If you have a fluid leak then i would say it is a slave cylinder fault, but if not then the splines on the clutch cover plate may have collapsed and that means either way a box out job to check everything.

Ok thanks, but earlier in the year I changed my brake fluid so do I need to bleed the clutch circuit...........although the clutch seems to operate ok

Could be a master cylinder problem, I guess. Have a look for signs of leakage. If none apparent, try screwing a bleed nipple into the master cylinder outlet instead of the pipe to slave cylinder. If pedal can be "pumped up" (a bit of "bleeding" may be necessary at the temporarily inserted bleed nipple) and become firm my guess is that the problem's at the slave end.
