Front Shock Problem
« on: 07 January 2008, 21:12:55 »

Hi all

Can anyone help please, on my mega the round plates on the front shocks that secure the top of the shock are sitting 12mm above the wing and I get a knocking sound. The wishbones were changed a few weeks ago for the MOT control arms are also renewed. I was wondering if this was wear on the top bush but 12mm seems a little too much so I thought I'd check with you guys first.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Knocking sounds like it might be worn drop links.

12mm does sound a bit much for the top end play, but it shouldn't really knock from there unless you are making the weight come off the front wheels.
As said have you checked/replaced the drop links?

I had a simular problem with my estate and that turned out to be the droplinks, have gone through a few of them due to the amount of speed bumps where I live.

Drop links connect from the anti-roll bar to the shock ? If so they were replaced and the knocking was still there.
