I realise there are many threads on alarms here but I think mine has a unique edge... the thing goes off while driving!

But it has no effect on the car- apart from a bloody loud noise and a sheepish look by the driver, especially when passing the copshop!

It also goes off randomly at night, in the day etc etc.
Only occasionally do the indicators flash too!

Action so far? I've had the ECU log looked at, it was full of codes for interior sensors and more. so the memory was cleared. After the next half dozen times, the log was looked at again and found to be empty! confused much! I have tried turning the interior sensors off, but that didnt make a difference either.

The car battery is fine i think, a delightful vauxhall "GO" thing, still within warranty, that shines its green indicator at me.

Any clever ideas?

following advice on here I can't find a bonnet sensor at all, and have yet to remove the scuttle to chop the sounder out. But the strangeness of it all worries me and any advice will be gratefully received.

Not so unique....its a failing power sounder.

Remove it from the left side of the engine below the scuttle cover.

thanks for the quick reply! i'll let you know if i find the expected corrosion!  

still don't get why it'd go off while driving tho - not just in traffic but on the motorway too!

It would normally be inhibited from sounding once the immobiliser has been disabled but all bets are off once the batteries have started leaking all over the circuit board!

Usually when the ignition is OFF and the system is armed.

Goes off when driving, when parked up or generally at random.

Question... how do I remove the scuttle?? gonna disconnect the sukka as my neighbours are getting grouchy.

Yes, I have had the same problem - the most embarrasing time was whilst filling up at Tesco's.... After paying up I just got in and drove off (siren still going!).  No-one said a word, which makes you wonder how important the noise is anyway.

I just squeezed my hand through a small gap and unplugged the sounder.

Job done.

Silent alarms (that immobilise) are the way forward :-)

... probably a unique problem, but only to Omega owners me thinks.
Drove past an erratic Omega owner today on the dual carriageway with his powersounder hooting away & a red faced missus in the passenger seat mouthin who knows what to him  

fyi, I removed my powersounder cable under the scuttle ages ago, but it still goees off sometimes.
I notice that after a few days of sitting/driving in rain the Random phantom powersounder begins, not techie enough to work out whats goin though  :-?

finally got round to removing my power sounder today. only two months after posting! Thought it'd give me a quiet car, only the bloody exhaust decided to split and now i sound like a nova!

doesn't time fly when the weather's rubbish eh!

thing is now, when i set my alarm off, the alarm horn doesn't do anything! just get flashing indicators and that's it... considering whether or not it's a good thing!?

the power sounder also came off without making a sound. it/s sitting next to me and I'm scared it'll randomly go off in the house! After it going off ten times a day this week, i'm happier without it!

Does anyone know a way to restore sound to my alarm without shelling £60 for a new sounder? (i'm gonna investigate the insides of the old one and state if it's batteries, will try and post juicy pics if worthwhile!)

If it's any consolation, I got my alarm sorted a few weeks back and since then things have gone from bad to worse............

Auto gearbox died.... total cost of moving car/garage work and gearbox tops £800 (garage charged the earth as it was xmas hols ... oh and they are rip off merchants!!)

NOW it seems as if the top left hand roller/tensioner is dying on me... will replace the part this week and then do a full cam change in the near future (when there is a cam party near me).
