problems finding a part
« on: 16 January 2008, 17:04:59 »

Hi, never been on a forum before so here goes,Ive just bought an omega 2.0 automatic 1997 and the oil dipstick is broken, theres only 4 inch on it, last owner says his son snapped it, anyway been in touch with local dealer and they say they cant get one for around 2 months as they only stock them in Germany now, been to all local dismantlers and they only have ones foe v6 any idea where to find one?
2 other things, 1, when i start the car from cold it runs on 3 for about 10 seconds then is comletley ok all the time and 2. the head lights are really poor, have put new bulbs in but still the same is this a common problem, i have noticed it looks like the lenses come off, as i was guna give them a clean from inside, is this hard to do? sorry for the S.A but any help would be grateful, Harry.

Hi

Can't help you with the 4-pot problems .. but  regarding the dipstick ..

try here :

www.partsgateway.co.uk

or

www.1stchoice.co.uk

or

www.carpartsconnexion.com

The headlights can be cleaned up by VERY careful use of fine wet & dry (1600) followed by t-cut or Brasso - mind the metal at the edge of the light, its easy to go onto it. Takes a while and some elbow grease but does make a difference
