I was just wondering if anybody has done an auto to manual gearbox conversion on a 2.5 v6 and what it takes to do??
Any advise would be grateful.

i have took me a wknd,you need,gearbox,flywheel,clutch,brake and clutch pedals with master cylinder for clutch and pipework,front section of propshaft,gear stick,after its done it keeps coming up on the display as an auto gearbox fault,yeah it is,it isnt there,lol,i just pressed the button an it goes away,when you go to take the gearstick out,theres about 6 rivets to drill out,manual one goes in its space,holes line up for rivets so re-rivet into place.

All I can say mate is its alot of hassle. You will need....................

A manual gearbox
Flywheel (manual)
Clutch Pedal
Brake pedal
ECU
Brake Master Cylinder resivoir (for CSC)
CSC (concentric slave cylinder)
Clutch Pipes for the gearbox
Possibly new starter motor (not sure)
Plus anything else that may be need. I am sure someone on hear will contribute to the list.
Not worth the hassle and money, That you will need Deep pockets!!!

i bought a whole car for £175 to get all the gear out of,cheapest way to do it i reckon

i didnt change the ecu,as the auto box has its own ecu,an car ran fine

and no starter doesnt need to be changed,the pipe to the reservoir,on the auto its blanked off,all i did was to cut the end off it and put the pipe on with small jubilee clip

You also need the clutch shaft support bearing and bush for the end of the crank...its not present on an auto engine.

Mole has done this before too... done over a weekend, got all the bits from a scrappy for £100 inc good clutch. So it's not an expensive job if you're capable of doing the labour.

Oh and the "automatic gearbox" warning on the display, you can get rid of that by grounding one of the pins on the back of the display. It's been posted on here before, have a search.

What about the Diff? I thought that it has a different ration, but might be wrong.
It is also an idea for my car, as I think that 2.0 is too weak to pull 1.7 tonne through autobox.

I've just done a manual conversion on my Elite TD, so it's doable but expect simple things such as bleeding the clutch to take longer than expected.
I am very happy with the outcome but think I might of bought a dud flywheel so, it's box off again!  
I'm getting and extra 8 or 9 mpg and it shifts much better throughout the rev range.
You need to remember to join the 2 x black/red wires in the middle multi plug (bottom half) to trick the ecu in to thinking its in N or P.
