The Air Conditioning on my 2.6 seems to have stopped working. Can anyone tell what visible signs there are that the compressor is working ie: should the disc on the front be rotatong when engaged? If so how does this work? I have checked all of the fuses I can find, but all apear to be okay. I have also consulted my "Haynes" manual; and as usual the term "Chocolate Fire Guard" springs to mind. :-?

if the system needs regassing then i dont think the compresser will work,because the gas (in its liquid form) acts as the lubricant for the compresser. i would start by getting someone to check if it needs regassing and then go on from there if you need to.

The air con pully will rotate even if the compressor is not engaged. As said may need a re-gas. You can feel if the compressor is engaging through a change in vibration through the bodywork

Although the compressor on my 99 3.0 was engaged there was bugger all gas in the sysyem to do anything. I took it to an independant air con specialist last week for him to look at it. There was a whopping 200g(ish) in there, it should be nearer the kilo mark. Time will tell thoughhow long it stays put.
