Fitting a replacement gearbox

right i now have sorced a replacement gear box. before it arrives is there any other parts/ seals etc i need to get before it arrives. is there any other jobs that need doing? before fitment.

i know ill need oil ....Dif III i believe.
what about gaskets and filters? if i do need thm where is the best place to get them from?

Use new oil, Dextron3

I use liquid gasket on gearbox sumps...

otherwise, old one off, new one on.

fit the TC IN the box, before mating up to flex plate. Make sure it's right back in, located on the Dogs.

If your a member of the Autobahn Stormers theres a fella in there that advertises the two sump gaskets and a gearbox oil filter for £30 + delivery which is very cheap ;)

The cambelt party is in Telford on the 23rd of Feb :y

i would love to come spend the weekend with a bunch of grease monkeys lol but one hubby might ask questions and two its @ 200miles.
its a shame i would love to get you all to look over my beast. she needs the tlc. (oh and by the way i am talking about the car!!!!!! ;D ;D)

The gearbox has two "dogs" that the Torque converter needs to align with, before mating up with the engine.

If I got a free weekend i'd pop over. When are you doing the job?

well thats just it.... not this weekend as i have a massive exam on wednesday and have to study. next sat i have o go to london. i have the sunday free (3rd and the weekend after is looking like its going to be the one.(9th /10th)

You would look at  driving a 200 mile round trip to help me fix my car? there should be more people like you in this world.

jpat (google them) do both sump gaskets and filter for £38 delivered.  Oil - see sticky thread in General Chat - "The Oilman cometh" - for cheap, quality ATF.

I'm driving down to HMS Sultan for the day next Monday (my son starts his mech's training there) I could've called & seen how you were doing!  ;D  ;D  ;D SWMBO wouldn't be to pleased if I got my hands dirty. ;)  ;)  ;)


How's that part of the world these days? We lived in Rowner when I was in the RN, late 80's

make sure you have a magnetic 15mm socket for the tc bolts.
