Coolant warning
« on: 18 January 2008, 21:39:48 »

I had this problem with my last omega, coolant level warning is coming up and the tank is dry but once the car has cooled and you undo the cap coolant rushes back into the tank. Any ideas? -

Probably has air in the system.

Try starting engine from cold with the heater on full wack and the coolant header tank cap removed......top up a 50:50 antifreeze mix as it needs it (important to keep the antifreeze mix right or you will kill the oil cooler and shorten the life of the heads and headgasket)

Thanks for the fast reply! I did that with the last 1 and it was fine level wise after that but the water pump gave up shortly after, just wondered if it was a sign of a dying pump?

Think I finally nailed this today, did the 'burp' trick and loads of air bubbled up through the coolant and now all seems well, thanks for the help!
