could be a number of things....

handbrake grabbing, wheel falling off, gear too high for the revs for the hill, misfire, whatever.

The more symptoms that are available, the more accurate the diagnosis?

you need to put a lot more information in a thread.

We can't read minds, just.... "it barely gets me home" is practically useless.

Information such as the following would have helped

Car runs in when idling, and in Park.

Under accerlation up hills the car 'jerks' or loss of power...

Apologies. Please excuse the previous lack of info.......  1 Bottle of Smirnoff involved so I couldn't type.

Problem is as follows:

Car generally OK during normal driving.

On driving up a long slight incline, at 30-40mph, the revs drop from 2000-2500 to 1100-1300, the gears drop down and the car judders violently.  It almost feels like a clutch failing in a manual.

I then attempt to accelerate and the car continues to judder and seems to have little power.   The revs increase to 3000 thereabouts
and the gears only change when I select Sport Mode.

There is a vague rubbery burning smell coming from unfder tha car when I "eventually" get home....

hmmm, have you checked the plug wells for water, we have had a lot of rain lately, and a few 2.2 (inc my wife's) have been a bit similar.

Have you checked for codes at all?

Have you tried changing gear manually and does that help?

on hills kinda suggests water sloshing around in the plugs!

2.2's seam to get water in the plugs, around the scuttle drain where the windscreen wiper motor is, water can creap in there and drop down on the EcoTec strip... and water can fall in the plugs.....

Check they are dry....

If on a flat road, and you boot it from 30-40 mph is it ok??
