Rear seat jammed in estate

I put the back seats down to move my mates bike yesterday, but when my mate went to put the seat up again he slammed it into place and trapped the seat belt and now the damn seat is jammed solid. The seat release button now has no "click" when you press it although it does spring back up, and the seat belt is jammed solid. Anyone got any idea's on how I can fix this?

I'm sure I can't be the only person this has ever happened to as it's so easy to do. :(

Yep, tried that and doesn't shift it at all. It's like the catch is released but the locking mechanism won't drop down due to the seat belt being trapped in it.

Aye, brute force and ignorance! ::)

I wouldn't worry about damaging anything, it's all pretty tough, seatbelt, mechanism & seat etc.  :y

Get somebody to push the seat towards the rear of the acr whilst pressing the button down......and hope that your mate in his infinite wisdom hasnt buggered the catch!

If theres the slightest hint of damage the belt will fail an MOT :(

Really? Didn't know that. They are dead tough though. Would take some puncturing!

just a crimp significantly weakens them, hence replacement if ANY signs of damage

Ive managed to do that Bob on my estate........rear seatbelt trapped.....but it hasnt jammed the seat before......unlucky  :(

Now im always careful when putting the seats back.....the seatbelt is clear.......tho unfortunatley that doesnt help you  :(

The only thing i can think of trying is with catch pressed down whack the back of the seat forward.....maybe a 2 person job   :-/

I had a pushbike in the back of mine today.......rear seats down job...........£5 extra charge  :y

After much time and effort, still couldn't budge the damn thing so gave up and took it to my local garage as I needed a couple of other small things doing aswell. My mechanic had it free in about 10 seconds!!! :o

Only problem is, I must have bent the catch mechanism as it won't lock back into place unless you press the release button while pushing it back into place. :-[

Seat belt was fine - no damage at all. :y

At least seat is up.

How's about a good squirt of the trusty WD!?! See if that frees things a little. The whole mechanism isn't great at the best of times. For confirmation whether you've bent it, check the other side I suppose.

Even on astras it's crap, sometimes the button doesn't pop up and you you have to 'coax' it by giving a few good bashes on the face of the seat.
