Hello all.

After 10 years with a Carlton I have just bought an Omega 2.6 Elite and I have a few of little problems with it.

The rear blind will not go up properly and the reversing sensor emits a continues beep when reverse is selected. The dealer has told me that the two problems are connected as the blind automatically goes up when reverse is selected, and as it's not working properly that causes the beep from the reversing sensor! Sounds like nonsense to me, but I thought I would check with the experts before going any further.

None of the heated seats work, but to me that suggests a fuse rather than switches / heat pads?

The boot will not open with the internal switch but is fine with the remote, the switch itself perhaps?

Any thoughts or ideas gratefuly received.

PS. Other than the above the Omega is fantastic, wish I had bought one years ago!

No expert ... one will pass by shortly and correct my errors I'm sure ...  

Blind/reverse = b******s ! ( why would you want the blind UP to reverse )

Blinds fail due to lack of use !!  If freed off often work well thereafter read here : http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152745304

Reverse sensor continuous .. dirt or paint on a sensor .. it thinks you are about to hit something !!

Heated seats could be a fuse by they are known to fail

Boot switch .. are you holding it for 3 secs ? doing it with key removed ? ( on some it won't work with key in)

Do any of the tell tales light up? It's generally just the driver's seat that fails ie the seat that gets sat in the most

I don't have a face lift car but some only work with the ign OFF where as other have to have the button pressed for a long(ish) time

Sounds to me the dealer is as much use as a cat flap on a submarine, i would take it back & get the faults fixed

Thanks very much for the replies.

I thought the reversing / blind thing was  b******s, the dealer has apparently ordered a new blind for me, but now I know for certain that the reversing sensor isn't connected, he can sort that out at the same time!

None of the heated seat lights illuminate, so again I guess that sounds like a fuse. The dealer can look at that at the same time.

As for the boot switch having to be pressed in for 3 seconds or so, I wondered who would be the first to spot that! (feel a bit silly now).

On my 1998 elite all the tell tales light up in the switches but only the drivers side rear one works. Could that be three seat pads out? Fuses are o.k.

You need to dust off your multi-meter & check for a voltage at each of the seats. If you have a tell tale indicating the heater is on, I'd suspect that you're unlucky enough to have 3 goosed heating mats (or part of)

Will check it out. If they are duff will live with it not carving up my nice black leather for the sake of a warm bum!

I had the same problem with my reversing sensors. On close inspection 3 of them had bubbling paint. Scraped all of the paint off to reveal the bare metal of the sensor and now they work fine.
