Is that experience or expertise speaking?
What is the solution to noisy tappets then?

Its not a cleaning fluid anyway.......and a cleaning fluid can only clean a surface over which it can pass, if an oil way is fully clogged then forget it!

The lifter treatment appears to be some sort of coating that helps the ball bearing valve in the lifters seal better and prevents blead down.

I disagree.  I chucked some in the tractor and it helped.

I think in your case, the lifters we fubar, or something else amiss.....

Either way, this would be a sensible last-resort step just before taking apart the valve train...

Hi all,
My motor had some of the filthyest oil I have seen in 45 years motoring when I bought it.
I know many of you don't approve of oil additives or flushing, but I decided draststic action was needed, and used Forte oil flush and then couple of oil and filter changes.
I still had a noisey tappet so before taking on a strip down job I used tin of Wynns hydraulic lifter cleaner, about a fiver, left in for 500 miles.

Now after the treatment and four oil and filter changes in 1500 miles I have the cleanest engine oil and and not a tappet can be heard.

I an sure that if there is no oil going through a lifter, the treatment will not work, but if there is just some, then it at least stands some chance.

For a fiver it's at least worth a try
