Bugger
I brought the one from ebay last night as it seemed to be a lot cheaper than the others almost £10 cheaper than some thanks for the replies . by the way is it a fairly simple job, anything I should be aware of when changing it . nearside if that makes any difference
Yes it is a simple job. Did mine last weekend in about 15mins. The car was tramlineing and sort of weaving, now it drives like a new car.
You just need a 18mm socket or spanner for both nuts.
Remove nearside front wheel, slacken both nuts on the idler, then make sure you have the steering lock fully to the right, remove the nut connecting the idler to the rack,if you have a splitter then you should be fine,if like me you don,t then place a jack under the idler to stop any movement downwards, and you will see on the balljoint the obvious spot to wallop with a big hammer, mine came free with the first blow, but sometimes it can take 2 or 3 goes. Then remove other nut and as its worn it should come off easily.
The new one will be a tighter fit and I couldn't push the bigger end on,the end with the bush in,so I push it on with the jack.
The torque for both bolts is 44Ibf ft.
Remember lock fully to the right or you will not have room to swing the hammer.
Hope this helps
