then turn up to "collect" it... armed with sammy sledge , and proceed to dismantle it "the hard way"....  



the worst bit is that ludicrous tail....     the rest I could almost live with....  

but not quite......

it's definitely in need to restoring to stock.

To be fair, it would be a good buy to purchase on the cheap and put back to standard.

I'd like to go over the mods, however:

COURTENAY SPORT MODIFIED HEADS
CS10 HIGH TORQUE SPORT HEADS
Technically, this is the same thing.  Courtenay claim 10% increase. So be generous, and call it +17bhp

4 BAR FUEL REGULATOR
...this should be good for...no bhp.

HIGH FLOW JETEX TWIN EXHAUST A PAIR OF SPORT CATS
..'high flow' meaning 'big' I presume. Sport cats - fine. benefit of the doubt, 8bhp (the stock v6 is pretty poor breathing wise, so it all helps)

MANTZEL INTAKE POWER RESONATOR
...sounds like an induction kit to me. Maker claims 10bhp.

 LIGHTWEIGHT FLYWHEEL [9.4 KGS LIGHTER THEN STANDARD]
...no bhp extra, but ok you'll have a quicker throttle response and it'll pick up a bit more easily

UPRATED CLUTCH WITH NEW SLAVE CYLINDER
you'll need it with that 300bhp. What brand clutch is it, though?

8.5 MAGNECOR LEADS WITH IRIDIUM PLUGS
a lot of money for very litle gain. no bhp.

COURTENAY MODDED AIRBOX WITH COURTENAY AIRFILTER
..i thought you already had an "intake power resonator". No bhp. -2bhp for being a numpty.

ECU REMAPPED
...so...20bhp perhaps? And don't be fooled into adding that figure to the 8 on the exhaust and the 3 on the induction kit. Thats 20bhp because it's made use of the extra breathing.

it'll need them to scrub off the momentum of 20 inch wheels under a 1.5 tonne car..

No it doesn't.

*if* it does - 160mph - 10% built in error (at 70mph, higher speed means even less accurate) is 144. Which I believe is 3mph below the book figure for this car.

So we're looking at about 200bhp if all the mods work.

There is in fact a "stage 2" tune from Courtenay that encompases most of the above, with the others being available from them too. To be fair, the guy has spent the best part of 2-3k on the gear he's listed before fitting.

I'd seriously want to be seeing a rolling road printout and detailed instructions on where to find the extra 100bhp, though.

just think if he had slapped a set of 3.0 cams in there and enlarged the throttle body he could have achieved most of that performance without laying out half the amount he has....

In fact cams = £150 (on a bad day )
some time modding the TB = FOC
K&N panel filter= £40

So £200 and 30bhp.....

sounds like a bargain

He's made the usual mistake of adding lots of "tuning bits" and adding up all the BHP claims to reach a final figure. Add a dollop of bull$shit to that and anyone can go down the pub bragging about a 300 BHP motor.

Could even have been to a rolling road with it. It takes careful setting up and use of a rolling road to accurately measure power at the crank, and most places the chavs visit will tell them what they want to hear about power output because they either know no better or because it's a good way of sending them away happy (and oblivious).

As for bending the needle at 160 MPH, top speed is proportional to the cube root of engine power so he'd need a serious hike in  power to do that.
