I have a Y reg 2.5 Omega Estate. Sunroof has died! Any suggestions? fuse is OK

As Chris says, try a reset. You'll find details on the forum somewhere, but simply, press & hold the dial untill all movement stops in each position of the roof, tilt, close & fully open.

As you power it any direction, try GENTLY pushing in the same direction, to assist the movement. When open LIGHTLY oil all the moving parts.

My old one had problems opening when I first got it, the mechanics were as dry as a bone. It is my belief the previous owner never used it and it simply dried out and seized up. Lubrication and gentle persuasion and after half a dozen cycles it all worked fine for the next 6 years ...

Yeah a sunroof in an old Omega needed some GENTLE persuasion...with my fist to get it to open initially and it was fine after that

My experience was that I just wiggled the rotary switch around (highly tech) it's as though the contacts are poor/dirty/dry in the switch. Seems to be a bit like the AC needs to be used often.

this sounds like it could do with being reset.

push and hold the turnbutton upwards whilst turning the knob first one way and then the other, this will reset the sunroof

My sunroof stated to work progressively more slowly despite oiling, re-setting etc. and I eventually bought a 2nd. hand replacement motor on fleabay for about £25. The original had simply packed up.

the roof on mine was very labourered and you had to hold the button in all the time to get it to close. It'd be worth removing the cover and trying to move the sunroof with a screwdriver in the emergency access. In the end I removed the motor & gearbox assembly - the grease had all dried up probably due to lack of use. Re-lubricated it, reassembled and it was perfect after that ... if anything it was the brass part that sticks through the gearbox and drives the belts of the sunroof mechanism that needed the lubrication more than anything else

Just for the record, they can be closed manually by removing the arched shaped cover on the roof console, and , winding the thing shut with a flat bladed tool...
