hi all.
many thanks for the suggestions to what the problem could be.
i think it is the oil cooler pipe and having trouble removing them,i am also going to check the oil cooler but not sure what to look for?.can you remove the oil cooler with out remving the heads?.                     if the worst happens,
can anyone give a ballpark price for the cooler&pipes cost?,

Well I have never seen a pipe fail.....unless its been damaged becuase its been bent following an oil cooler change.

As for tips, you need a 19mm crows foot spanner to get the pipe to block nut undone (remove oil filter for improved access)

The oil cooler can be removed with the heads on, you have to disconnect the oil cooler pipes and then remove the nuts which attach the cooler to the plate, the plate can then be un-done and removed. Beware though, as its not un-usual for the threads on the rear oil cooler mount to strip rendering the oil cooler scrap!

As for cost.

The oil cooler, plate, nuts and rubber seals are about 80-90 quid (for the kit).

The coolant bridge dowty washers are about a fiver

The oil pipe to cooler washers are about 2 quid

And as for the pipe, never known one fail so couldn't comment on the cost.
