2.0 L Camshaft sensor
« on: 20 February 2008, 09:59:13 »

Is it worthwhile upgrading the cam sensor to the modified one. I have to replace it anyway and was wondering why it was modified in the first place...unreliable maybe. Is it easy to replace the wiring for the new one? Any help would be appreciated...Cheers

The best (and cheapest) option is to find a working one from the scrapheap. At least some cheap ebay sensors are known to be non-working. I have also tried a modified sensor. Not really difficult to fit the wiring. I fitted it in the original position to start with, but as the fault code didn't go away I opened the cable trunk and traced it to the ECU end to route the wiring away from the alternator. That didn't work either, so I solved the problem with a used, old type from the scrappy.
