Firstly, thank you for the very warm welcome to the site! Anyway, down to business. Moving away with a cold engine the auto box holds on to first for far too long in my opinion. According to the book this is to heat up the cats more quickly but at what cost to the engine? (Especially in winter minus temps!) It goes against everything I know (not much admittedly!) I stop this by selecting ice mode - forcing the thing to change up. Was the engine designed to take this pre-programmed abuse?

The later cars, my 2.6 for example, don't seem to hold low gear for as long.

Would a gearbox firmware update help?

I updated the firmware on mine to 9, and it still holds 1st till around 4500rpm at half throttle when accelerating.

think its normal, something to do with warming up the fluids in the autobox and getting things circulating

i used to pull away as normal and then select snow mode so that it changed into third :-/

I find sitting in the car for 10-20 seconds when you have started the engine stops it

should change around 3k when very cold, depending on weight of shoe.
