I don't think you have anything to worry about.

The RAC are a professional and reputable company.

They probably haven't even considered trying to wriggle out of this.

Accidents such as this can happen and they will be insured for such.

Or the insurance company for that matter. It's a new and quite revolutionary idea they're launching here, one which they'll have invested heavily in. The last thing they'll want is horror stories floating around about them being ham-fisted installing their kit, because that will kill it stone dead.

Use this to your advantage if they don't resolve the situation to your satisfaction.

Well, RAC have been on the phone,

There sending me a hire car for the weekend and having the local Vauxhall dealer (Slaters) pick up the mega and they are standing all costs :)

Well cock ups do happen, we've all made them and to give the RAC there due they are fixing them.

If you have out centre console, its not uncommon to blow all 5 bulbs together if they are old. Strange, but true.

That's a point. Filaments get fragile with age and then if you shock them it's the last straw.

Well to start with I would of agreed this could be problem, but now the climate control won't power up at all. In the installers own words "I think I broke the PCB when I tried to feed a live stright to the blubs"

Either way I think this car really doesnt want to live in wales... only had it a week and already had 3 lots of major agrro :(

Sounds like the main dealer will say it needs a new climate panel, especially if he has been hacking about with it like this.

Dealer will be rubbing hands with glee!

panels do come up on ebay, I got 2 spare ones for £2!  (off the same seller as my cruise for 99p)  but retail will be hundreds!

Where is your local dealer?  Nearest I can think of is Lookers as Abergele, but there is probably a nearer one.

Slaters in Llangfni, about 20 miles away. but not a problem as the RAC are taking it there when they drop the hire car off.

Slaters say they can't start work on it till next thursday though

What a wait!  and then another dar or 2 for parts, day for fitting!
Could well be the Monday before you get it back!

They Aren't making much profit on this one!  thats one hell of a hire bill before the vauxhall bill!

Serves them right for being ham fisted IMHO. How hard can it be to mount a box in a car and connect it to a switched live feed without bu66ering the rest of the car?

What a muppet.....what a complete arse!

So hes probably blown the headlight switch (it has part of the dimmer function in it) plus god knows what else.....

Well the mega's still out in the drive but the hire car has landed... and they want it back monday,

Now work this one out. The RAC have only booked the car for 3 days yet they know that the dealers wont be starting work on her till thursday, the reasoning... "Well the dealers might give you a car to use"

And for added fun, after looking over the car in the day light now, the muppet has marked the wood trim and all switches where he has been pulling stuff about.

I'm really pissed now
