but whoever answers - is this the same sealant to use on the stat?  If not what is the pn for that?

I've got a tube of stuff which will do for it (I think) VX gave me the wrong stuff for the cover gaskets, and this is more for sump/oil cooler plate according to mark when he saw it

can have it if you want :)

THe thermostat comes with an O ring - the grey sealer is used for the heat ex changer plate and the vent housing
Vauxhalls are now using it on the sumps - but in the factory we used loctite 5900 - which is brilliant stuff

Yes but, the early stat housing and O rings are shite and the O ring is no longer available for them so the grey sealent works very well with the shite O ring to seal the stat!
