Coolant dribbling out over the aircon compressor
« on: 06 March 2008, 08:46:04 »

I 've suddenly developed a leak but can't see where it might be comming from..

It's the 3.0 V6, and the leak is on the right (as you look from the front) somewhere just above the aircon compressor, and is dribbling down over it.

There is a big watrer hose there but it is not that (would be too easy).

Any ideas what it might be, because I have to remove 1/2 the engine bits just to see where it's comming from..
I've got the ram air and aux belt off and it's not the water pump.

Thanks a lot.

Are you sure its not the pipe, I have seen a few where they have failed with what look like blisters in the outer sheath.

TBH I am not 100% sure.

I had a look with the inspection mirror and it looked ok, but i wanted to keep it on and filled with fluid, to see the leak actually leaking.

I will now remove that pipe and check it out.

Thanks a lot Mark.

Ok I've checked the rubber hose and its ok, but the metal pipe it goes onto is wobbly ?

Its the big one in the middle of the pic.

I'm terrified to get the timing belt and rear cover off as I haven't a cam locking tool.

What should I do?

Thats your leak.....the Bstard bolt is missing!

Remove the plenum and inlet (see the V6 breather clean guide for more info)

The pipe you can see pushes into the stat housing and has 2 O rings on it.....you need new O rings (or even get a new pipe) and re-fit along with a new bolt.

No need to touch the cambelt for this job.

While you've got it that much dismantled, it might be worth changing the thermostat.
