Tech2 Scotland
« on: 04 March 2008, 21:16:20 »

Evening all,

Does anyone know who else in the Central belt (apart from a Vauxhall dealer) will have a Tech2 unit so I can activate my cruise control (already fitted the stalk).

The nice vauxhall dealer in Falkirk wants £76 to do it.

Would like it done by Friday afternoon as I'm driving to London and would like to put my feet up on the drive.

Thanks in advance

Alan

That does sound tempting, but I'll be coming down the M6, probably passing around 9pm.

Shame though, could do with chip updating too, or what the update is that sorts out the auto gear shifting.

Maybe some other time  :y

I'll be a few hundred yards Jnc10 of M40 at 9pm this Friday, if that helps.

As an aside, whoever does it, do you have clutch switch fitted - this is required. Most 2.6 do not appear to have them as standard.

From what I gathered from "How to: Cruise Control (DBW cars only)" don't know what the DBW means, I thought all I needed was the stalk.

It's a 51 plate 2.6 cd if that makes a difference?

DBW is drive by wire, meaning electrical connection, no mechanical wires, thus requiring setting up by tech2.  i would earnestly recommend a stopover to get it done as well as whatevert gearbox etc upgrades TB or M_DTM can give for their requested fees, much less than a VX dealer would require!!   ;)

Interestingly, every 2.6 I have done has got the switch!

If you can, I would call in at Brackley and get the cruise and updates done....

I've only done 3 or 4 DBW manual V6s, certianly more than 1 didn't have the clutch switch

I can be such a muppet some times!!

I didn't notice TheBoy asking about the clutch.

I should have mentioned, it's an auto box, so would think it does not need the clutch switch...DOH!!!

If you have fitted the cruise stalk, and its an auto, its a quick job to enabled (about 20mins, including booting up laptop), as said, I'm in Ardley (a few hundred yards from Jnc10 M40) Friday evening, if that is any good to you - I'll be at Fox and Hounds pub from 7 - 9:30ish...

Thanks for the offer, we ended up leaving later than expected and didn't get into London until 00:30 am.

The road works coming down were not fun!

Might need to rant about that later.

Cheers anyway.

You could try and make lakes meet in June - if last year is anything to go by, the Scots need more players in the England v Scotland footie match ;D
