wNew car, a little advice required with the alarm.
« on: 06 March 2008, 19:19:39 »

Hi all,
Bought myself a 1996 2.5 CD estate last Sunday. Car seems good, a few niggles, but nothing major. First question is regarding the alarm. When setting with the keyfob, the interior LED flashes immediately, which according to the manual means there is a problem. Previous said it may be because the battery was changed on the car. If I follow the re-programming procedure, first time I arm, it works fine (this is with me still in the car), but if I open the drivers door and shut it again, with me either in or out, and try to arm, the LED flashes again. It seems the cause must be in the drivers door, a lock switch or something. Anyone any ideas?
Thanks in advance...

THe LED should flash for around 10 seconds, then it goes to a really slow flash ( i think) ::)

Sorry, meant to say, after arming the car (with the flashing LED), the alarm goes off after a few minutes.

Bonnet switch is usually the favourite. Make sure the bracket the switch is fastened to is not bent, as a test just unplug it (that way the alarm always thinks the bonnet is shut)

Hiya!  [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

....if the alarm goes off randomly it maybe the Power Sounder is faulty:

Read this recent thread to see if it`s relevant to your car`s alarm problem too.  :y
